Statement beads in balance
Geometries in Love is an African Wax Print from Dutch fabric house Vlisco, and a beautiful example of its abstract patterns. We love how this geometric print pays homage to modern art.
Big and bold, three dimensional cones, cylinders and diamonds appear to float up and down the fabric, like strings of beads. The colors are inspired by the sea: rose pink, turquoise green and marine blue, with accents of monochrome black and white for a sharp-edged, geometric feel. Tiny squiggles adorn the background, giving this Wax Print the underlying energy that characterizes all of Vlisco’s prints.
the maakola meaning
With its vertical rows of abstract shapes and a color palette reminiscent of sea glass, this fabric reminds us of Geometries in Love, one of the sculptures created in honor of the Peggy’s Necklace exhibition at the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation in Venice in 2006. Outside the museum, oversized glass beads were fashioned into sculptures and giant necklaces to capture Guggenheim’s unique style. We feel that this geometric print does the same.
