Two years ago, we made the first sketches for Flora: a new Maakola collection that eliminates the boundaries between our bodies and the natural world. Through the pandemic, we worked with Martha—one of our artisans in Ghana—to bring the collection to life. It took us longer than initially planned to bring the collection to life, but we are almost there.
Can the body contribute to ecological renewal by finding inspiration and strength from fabrics and patterns?
Flora invites us not only to appreciate the beauty of plants and flowers, but also to grasp their silent suggestions and realize the need for greater empathy in our approach to the natural and social worlds.
We would be happy to share a preview of the artistic journey that inspired us to design Flora. Our fashion is slow, so we want your experience to be the same so you can enjoy the journey.
