Redefining beauty through conscious clothing
“I founded Maakola to challenge the concept of beauty. From our tailors and customers I learned that a fashion garment isn’t just the sum of the parts but the relationship between the parts and those who make, design, and wear them.”
Circle of Life
The fabric of the Circle of Life collection brings upon us the power of reinventing ourselves, transforming our lives, embracing events that we can’t change and gently going with the flow.
Jessica Sarkodia’s work echoes Maakola’s mission to empower both the women who manufacture the garments and the women who wear it.
To us, every business is a collective endeavor: a unique organism that works within a broader environment, where everything is connected.
A Future Beyond Sustainability.
While sustainability is about preserving and nurturing what’s good, we need to move beyond the current state and towards a more just, equal, and inclusive society. Human beings and societies are embedded in and dependent on the natural environment. You cannot separate one from the others. The world is not a collection of isolated objects but a network of phenomena that are fundamentally interconnected and interdependent. In this natural ecosystem, every party plays a role in building the whole. If one part suffers, the whole network breaks. To us, every business is a collective endeavor: a unique organism that works within a broader environment, where everything is connected.
A celebration of our planet’s beauty and a call to challenge how we look at things.
